Hamas rose to power and started firing rockets at Israelis after Israel evacuated both the army and civilians from Gaza. (Besides, firing rockets indiscriminately at civilians is illegal even when facing occupation.) Punisher is after some Criminals, but soon realizes they are not just your run of the mill thugs, they are Vampires, still kicking ass he goes and gets himself bit not realizing what he will become, blade shows up finishes off vamps and tries to "Cure" the newly infected Vamp-Punisher. Not a ton of people actually use it, I know one or two photographers who carry the camera and the flash around. When the interest peaked, there were people who wanted the flash to take photos so they could get the Weegee look but that faded just like the interest on the star wars side faded. A lot of it comes down to interest increased on both sides simultaneously, largely due to the internet.
